Nanjangud: In a gruesome incident on New Year’s Eve, a man was brutally attacked and killed with a beer bottle for refusing to give money to two individuals who wanted to buy alcohol. The deceased, identified as Rafeeq (35), a resident of Mahadevanagar, succumbed to his injuries at K.R. Hospital in Mysuru after failing to respond to treatment.

The incident occurred late at night in Saraswathi Colony, Nanjangud, as Rafeeq was walking home. Salim, a resident of Neelakantnagar, along with an unidentified friend, intercepted Rafeeq and demanded money to buy alcohol. When Rafeeq refused, an argument ensued, escalating into violence. Salim and his accomplice attacked Rafeeq with a beer bottle, leaving him severely injured.

Passersby who witnessed the assault alerted authorities, and Rafeeq was rushed to K.R. Hospital in Mysuru for medical treatment. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, he succumbed to his injuries hours later.

The Nanjangud Town Police visited the crime scene and initiated an investigation. A case has been registered against Salim and his friend, who fled the scene following the attack. Police are actively pursuing leads to apprehend the culprits.
