Mysuru: The Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) continued its Operation Footpath drive by clearing encroachments on Dawood Khan Road in Lashkar Mohalla, reclaiming a footpath that had been occupied for years by vendors storing old window and door frames for resale.
The civic action, carried out on Wednesday morning, was aimed at restoring pedestrian access and ensuring unobstructed movement along the busy stretch.
Encroached footpath reclaimed
According to MCC officials, vendors had been using the footpath to display and store second-hand window and door frames, leaving little or no space for pedestrians.
The prolonged encroachment had forced people to walk on the road, posing safety risks and causing inconvenience to commuters.
Operation Footpath continues
As part of its ongoing Operation Footpath, the corporation removed the materials and cleared the public walkway, allowing pedestrians to use the footpath safely once again.
The drive forms part of MCC’s broader initiative to remove illegal encroachments from footpaths across the city and improve accessibility for the public.
Civic body urges cooperation
The corporation has appealed to traders and vendors to refrain from occupying public footpaths and roads, emphasising that such spaces are meant exclusively for pedestrian use.
MCC officials said the anti-encroachment drive will continue in other parts of Mysuru to ensure footpaths remain free from illegal occupation and accessible to all citizens.
