Ratha Saptami was celebrated with grandeur at the Mysore Palace premises, drawing a large number of devotees. The sacred occasion witnessed the coming together of festival deities from seven prominent temples, attracting devotees eager for a divine darshan. The viewing, which commenced at 6 AM, was open to worshippers until 12 noon.
Divine Idols Grace Ambavilas Palace
The beautifully adorned idols of Trineshwaraswamy, Bhuvaneshwari, Gayatri, Lakshmi Ramanaswamy, Prasanna Krishna, Varaha, and Khile Lakshmi Venkataramanaswamy were ceremoniously placed in the Ambavilas Palace courtyard. Devotees thronged the venue to seek blessings on this auspicious day when the Sun God, Suryadev, is believed to change his celestial path.
A Royal Tradition Continues
Historically, during the rule of the Maharajas, temple idols from across the palace premises were gathered in one location for devotees to offer prayers. This age-old tradition remains intact, allowing worshippers to experience the divine atmosphere just as it was in royal times.
The spiritual ambiance, coupled with the palace’s heritage charm, made the Ratha Saptami celebrations a mesmerizing experience for all present.
