Mysuru: Mysuru has emerged as Karnataka’s second-largest technology talent ecosystem after Bengaluru, with nearly 3 lakh active white-collar professionals, according to the Mysuru Cluster Talent Report prepared by talent intelligence firm Xpheno in partnership with the Karnataka Digital Economy Mission (KDEM).

The report comes as the Karnataka government intensifies its Beyond Bengaluru strategy to position Mysuru as a preferred destination for Global Capability Centres (GCCs), electronics manufacturing, engineering, artificial intelligence (AI) and research-driven industries.

Strong talent pipeline drives growth

According to the report, Mysuru has around 90,000 experienced professionals, with 46% having up to six years of industry experience, creating a robust pipeline of skilled talent. The remaining 54% comprises mid- and senior-level professionals, providing leadership for engineering firms, research organisations and GCCs.

The IT and IT-enabled Services (ITeS) sector remains the city’s largest employer, providing jobs to over 20,000 professionals. Engineering and IT roles together account for more than 23,000 jobs, supported by a strong pool of graduates in computer science, commerce, business and science disciplines.

More professionals keen to move to Mysuru

The report also highlights Mysuru’s growing appeal as a technology destination. Around 44,600 professionals have expressed interest in relocating to the city, compared to nearly 16,000 looking to move elsewhere.

Nearly 69% of prospective relocations are expected from Hyderabad, Chennai, Bengaluru, Mangaluru and Delhi, indicating rising confidence in Mysuru’s expanding technology ecosystem.

State eyes more GCC investments

Speaking at the Beyond Bengaluru Dialogue, Dr Manjula N., IAS, Secretary, Department of Electronics, Information Technology, Biotechnology and Science & Technology, said increasing participation from industry leaders reflects growing confidence in Mysuru’s investment potential.

She highlighted the city’s strong educational institutions, research ecosystem and skilled workforce, supported by government initiatives such as LEAP, NIPUNA, startup programmes and Global Technology Centres.

Officials believe Mysuru’s experienced workforce, quality educational institutions, improving infrastructure and lower operating costs will help the city attract more technology investments and strengthen Karnataka’s digital economy beyond Bengaluru
