Mysuru is set to celebrate the 141st birth anniversary of Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar, one of the most respected kings of the Mysuru royal family, on Wednesday. The event will be organized by the Ursu Mandali Sangha, with Vice President Srikanth Raj Urs confirming the details.
The celebrations will be inaugurated by MP Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar. Dignitaries including MLA TS Srivatsa and UG Gopal Raj Urs will also participate. A grand procession carrying the Maharaja’s portrait will begin at the Sangha premises on Tyagaraja Road in Agrahara and conclude at KR Circle, paying homage to the late ruler.
Urs added that a complaint has been filed at Devaraja Police Station after an alleged desecration of the Maharaja’s statue at KR Circle. The individual involved is suspected to be mentally unwell and intoxicated. The city police have been requested to increase security around all three Wadiyar statues in Mysuru.
As part of the evening celebration, the Mysuru Palace will be illuminated from 7 to 8 pm, with the public allowed to enter the premises, according to the Mysuru Palace Board. In the morning, floral tributes will be offered to Nalwadi Wadiyar at the Sri Lakshmiramanaswamy Temple within the palace grounds, attended by dignitaries and citizens alike.
