The headmaster of a government higher primary school in Mysuru district’s HD Kote taluk has been missing for 10 days following complaints that he mistreated two girl students, aged 12 and 14, in February. Superintendent of Police N. Vishnuvardhana confirmed that two FIRs have been filed against the accused, Girish, after complaints from the Block Education Officer (BEO) and a student’s parents.

Girish reportedly stopped attending school on February 25 after the first complaint. Another student’s parents filed a complaint on March 1, alleging he gave the victims sedatives disguised as ‘deworming tablets’ before mistreating them. Police have deployed two teams to track him down. Girish had been serving as the school’s headmaster since August on deputation.

The school has 33 students, including 11 girls from classes VI to VIII, and three teachers. Following the incident, Deputy Director of Public Instruction (DDPI) Javaregowda ST suspended BEO K. Kantharaju, cluster resource person Deepa, and education coordinator Jayaram for negligence.

Authorities, including the SP and Deputy Commissioner G. Lakshmikanth Reddy, visited the school, where villagers demanded strict action against officials. The affected students are receiving medical attention and counseling, and the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) has allowed them to stay with their parents during exams. Experts are urging the education department to provide trained counselors in schools for better student support.
