MYSURU: Zoological Gardens (Mysuru Zoo) has seen exciting new additions recently. Giraffe Babli gave birth to a healthy male calf last week, raising the zoo’s giraffe count to eight. Both mother and calf are in quarantine and under observation. Babli had earlier delivered a female calf in July 2022.
In more good news, a zebra at the zoo also delivered a healthy calf around the same time, with both animals reported to be in good health.
Adding to the zoo’s attractions, two female gorillas, aged 12 and 14, arrived from Blackpool Zoo, UK, on March 12. Four staff members from Blackpool Zoo have accompanied them and will stay for a month to train Mysuru zookeepers. The gorillas are currently quarantined to adjust to their new environment before being displayed to the public.
