Mysuru authorities have enforced prohibitory orders across the city in anticipation of potential unrest during planned demonstrations on Monday related to the Udayagiri police station incident.

Mysuru Police Commissioner Seema Latkar announced restrictions on public gatherings, rallies, and protests, citing concerns over public order and communal harmony. The decision follows the Rashtra Suraksha Janandolana Samiti Mysuru’s announcement of the ‘Mysuru Chalo’ awareness rally, scheduled to proceed from JSS Vidyapeeth Gunhouse to Kote Anjaneyaswamy Temple, condemning the February 10 violence at the Udayagiri police station.

The event is set to feature top BJP leaders, including state party president B.Y. Vijayendra and Leader of Opposition R. Ashoka, alongside other senior party members.

In a counter-response, Dalit Mahasabha and Mysuru District Youth Congress Committee have organized a separate demonstration, alleging that the BJP is attempting to vilify the Muslim community over the Udayagiri incident.

Commissioner Latkar emphasized that any such events could disrupt law and order, disturb public peace, and strain communal relations, warranting strict enforcement of the prohibitory orders to prevent potential conflicts.
