A tragic end has emerged in the case of a missing family from Bengaluru, after the bodies of Kumaraswamy (38) and his two young children—Adhwaith (8) and Akshara (3)—were discovered inside a car submerged in the Visvesvaraya Canal (VC Canal) in Mandya district.

The family had gone missing on April 17 while en route from Bengaluru to K.R. Nagar after visiting Brindavan Gardens at KRS Dam. According to Dy.SP Shanthamallappa, Kumaraswamy had taken a shortcut along a mud road beside the canal, where the car is believed to have struck a stone, leading to a loss of control and its plunge into the canal.

The windows were closed and doors jammed, leaving the father and children trapped underwater. Their bodies surfaced only after the water level dropped, making retrieval possible. The damaged front of the vehicle supported the accident theory, and authorities have ruled out suicide based on evidence and mobile data.

Police stated that although a missing person’s case had been filed in Bengaluru, no FIR was lodged locally until the vehicle was found. The KRS Police will now pursue the case.

Meanwhile, Kumaraswamy’s family blames CNNL officials, who allegedly refused a request to reduce water flow in the canal, which might have expedited the search. His brother Naveen suspects foul play, citing strained family ties—particularly the absence of Kumaraswamy’s wife from her in-laws’ home in recent years—as a possible factor.
