Mysuru: Mahimadas Bin Benjamin, 45, of Mariyamangala village, who was reportedly injured in the Forest Department encounter in the Cauvery Wildlife Sanctuary, has been discharged from a private hospital in Mysuru, with his whereabouts now unknown.

Mahimadas was reportedly injured during the exchange of fire in the early hours of Saturday, which left three men dead. He is said to have concealed himself in the forest after the incident, following which the Forest Department declared him absconding.

Survivor traced and admitted to hospital

By Saturday evening, the Police reportedly traced Mahimadas and admitted him to a private hospital in Mysuru for treatment.

Chamarajanagar District Minister C. Puttarangashetty, former MLA Narendra and Deputy Commissioner Shreeroopa visited the hospital and enquired about his health. They also gathered details about the incident and his condition.

Sudden discharge raises questions

However, Mahimadas was discharged from the hospital yesterday, and his whereabouts have since remained unknown.

The circumstances surrounding his discharge, including how and under whose supervision he left the hospital, have not been disclosed.

The development has added another layer of uncertainty to the sequence of events surrounding the encounter. Questions remain over what happened after Mahimadas was traced and admitted for treatment, as details about his subsequent movement have yet to emerge.
