Nanjangud taluk was gripped by fear after a mother tiger and her cub were spotted walking right past a farmer in broad daylight. The startling encounter took place in the fields of Anjanapura and Hundi villages near Iregouda, leaving residents anxious about their safety.
The incident unfolded when Doreswamy, a farmer from Hundi, noticed the tigress moving calmly near a tobacco barrel on his land. In a state of shock, he watched as the cub followed close behind. Word quickly reached the Hediyala forest division, prompting forest department staff to rush to the area.
Upon inspection, officials discovered massive paw prints confirming that an adult tiger and cub had been roaming the fields instead of returning to the forest. The sightings have left farmers deeply worried about venturing out for routine agricultural work.
Forest department teams have begun a search operation to locate the animals before any tragic incident occurs. Officials stressed the urgency of capturing the tigress and her cub safely, as prolonged presence near human settlements could lead to dangerous encounters.
Residents have urged authorities to act swiftly to prevent livestock loss or human casualties. Meanwhile, frightened villagers are avoiding their fields until the situation is brought under control.
The forest department has appealed to locals to remain vigilant and immediately report any further sightings to help track the tigers and ensure everyone’s safety.
