Nanjangud police have arrested two couples for child trafficking under the Juvenile Justice Care and Protection of Children Act, 2015 and the BNS Act. A complaint from a taluk child protection officer led to the arrests on Thursday.
📌 Key Details:
✔ A two-year-old girl was allegedly sold for ₹14,000 by her parents to a neighboring couple in Neelakantanagar.
✔ After rumors spread, child protection officers intervened and retrieved the child.
✔ The child was handed over to a childcare center following a Child Welfare Committee (CWC) order.
✔ The parents’ two minor sons were also sent to a rehabilitation home.
✔ A third person involved in facilitating the exchange was detained.

Authorities are verifying money transactions and other possible child trafficking links.
