The U-Win online vaccine management portal, launched by the Karnataka health department in April 2024, has greatly improved vaccination access for pregnant women and children in Mysuru district. Since its rollout, over 16,000 pregnant women and 1.3 lakh children have benefited.

The platform provides real-time tracking of pregnant women, newborns, children, and adolescents, ensuring digital registration and monitoring of vaccinations. It stores a permanent digital record of the 25 vaccines administered from birth to adolescence, and the two shots given to pregnant women, streamlining healthcare delivery.

U-Win is integrated with national health platforms like Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM), ABHA, and registries like HPR and HFR, enhancing interoperability and data consistency across systems.

Self-registration is available via the portal using Aadhaar and mobile numbers, or through walk-in registration at primary health centres. Those previously registered on CoWIN can log in using the same mobile number.

According to Dr Mohammed Siraj, district reproductive and child health officer, digital vaccine certificates are also available and can be downloaded by parents for nationwide access to immunisation services.

Dr PC Kumaraswamy, the district health officer, added that this digital initiative has made it easier for health workers to reach 100% immunisation targets, improving the efficiency and reach of the Universal Immunisation Programme.
