Namma Metro Sets New Ridership Record in Bengaluru
Bengaluru’s Namma Metro broke its ridership record, reaching an all-time high of 8.26 lakh passengers on Tuesday, August 6, as reported by the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) on Wednesday. This surpasses the previous record of 8.25 lakh set on August 15, 2022.
In June, Namma Metro set a benchmark with an average daily ridership of 7,45,659, generating ₹58.23 crore in revenue. The latest record reinforces the Metro’s growing popularity and its vital role in Bengaluru’s public transportation.
The BMRCL statement highlighted that 8,26,883 passengers used the Metro service on August 6. This milestone comes as the Bengaluru Metro continues to expand its network under phases II, IIA, and IIB. New routes include Kalena Agrahara to Nagawara, RV Road to Bommasandra, and Silk Board to Kempegowda International Airport.
These expansions are expected to further boost ridership and revenue for BMRCL, enhancing connectivity and convenience for Bengaluru residents.
