OpenAI Launches SearchGPT: New AI Search Engine to Integrate with ChatGPT
The global search landscape is about to witness a new player as OpenAI, the creator of ChatGPT, unveils SearchGPT, its latest AI-driven search engine. In a recent blog post, OpenAI revealed that it is currently testing a prototype of SearchGPT, which aims to merge the power of its AI models with up-to-date web information to deliver rapid and relevant answers along with clear source links.
At this stage, SearchGPT will be accessible to a select group of users and publishers for feedback. The ultimate goal is to incorporate these advanced search features into ChatGPT. “While this prototype is temporary, our plan is to integrate the most effective features directly into ChatGPT in the future,” the company explained.
OpenAI acknowledged that users often need multiple attempts to find relevant search results. To address this, SearchGPT will enhance the conversational capabilities of OpenAI’s models by integrating real-time web information, making searches quicker and more accurate. “SearchGPT will provide immediate and precise responses with current web data and direct links to pertinent sources,” the company noted.
Additionally, OpenAI is collaborating with publishers to give them greater control over their visibility in SearchGPT. This partnership allows publishers to manage their presence without affecting OpenAI’s generative AI training. “Websites can appear in search results even if they choose to opt out of generative AI training,” OpenAI added.
