Mangaluru: ‘Konkani Kutam Bahrain will confer the 2019 Konkani Literary award on Konkani Litterateur, Shir JFD D’Souza on Monday, December 16, 2019, at 6.30 p.m., at St. Sebastian Platinum Jubilee Hall, Bendore, Mangaluru. The famous Kannada writer and columnist ‘JoGi’, Shri Girish Rao Hatwar will grace the occasion as the Chief Guest and Rev Fr Alwyn Serrao, Principal, Padua College and Director of the Padua Ranga Adhyayana Kendra will be the Guest of Honour.
This was announced at a press meet in the city yesterday, Richard Moras – Convener – Mangaluru, Titus Noronha – Coordinator, Cyril G. Sequeira – Committee Member, William Pais – Committee Member and Melvyn Rodrigues – Committee Member were present at the press meet.
KONKANI KUTAM’ Bahrain is a voluntary forum exclusively formed in the year 2000 for promoting Konkani language, literature, and culture. For the past seventeen years, Konkani Kutam Bahrain has been awarding and honoring a writer/artist who has made a valuable contribution to the Konkani language through Konkani literature or art and has held the award event in Konkani’s Home Town Mangaluru every year. The award consists of a citation, a memento and cash of Rs: 50,000.
