Dubai: Sangati Creations’ maiden venture, the mega Konkani film ‘Zanvoy No. 1’, written and directed by well-known Bollywood director Harry Fernandes Barkur, had a grand overseas audio release on March 1 at 8 pm at Winny’s Restaurant Auditorium, Karama, Dubai.
On behalf of Sangati Creations, the Producers of the movie and overseas distributor Sandhya Creations, MC Uttam Menezes welcomed the audience and gave them a brief of the current trend of Konkani Movies released. He said that this trend gave a break to many Konkani artistes to be a part of the Konkani film industry and come on the silver screen.
He also mentioned that the current trend of Konkani Cinema started with Frank Fernandes’ ‘Ek Aslyar Ek Na’ then moved on with Henry D’Silva’s ‘Nashibacho Khel’, Maxim Pereira’s ‘Ashem Zalem Kashem’, Janet Noronha’s ‘Sophiya’ and now Sangati Creations ‘Zanvoy No.1’. This trend will move forward successfully only if the members of the Konkani Community come forward and support wholeheartedly, he added.
He invited on to the stage, entrepreneur, singer and philanthropist, Joseph Mathias, businessman and Konkani leader James Mendonca, businessman Simon D’Mello, Businessman Producer of various movies and recently Doctorate Honoured Frank Fernandes, President of Rachana, Coordinator of Mand Shoban, Businessman, Actor and DCC President Stany Alvares, Film Maker of Bhojpuri Films, Marathi Films, Bollywood Movies and Konkani Movies Director Harry Fernandes Barkur, Sangati Creations Producer Cyril Castelino, Philanthropist Nelson Rodrigues, Actor who has acted in three languages, Deepak Paladka and Producer Distributor Sandhya Creations, Shodhan Prasad. Later Cyril Castelino honoured all the Guests with roses.
MC Uttam began with a prayer and wished all the best to ‘Zanvoy No.1’ and the team. Followed close behind was the lighting of the lamp by all the guests on dais.
Harry Fernandes spoke about his film making experience which he started from Bhojpuri, Marathi, Hindi and now with his own community’s Konkani film. He expressed his delight as many movies distributed in Dubai in the recent past had received houseful audience and appreciations wherever released and hoped that ‘Zanvoy No.1’ would be welcomed the same way as it has got a good package of family comedy with Bollywood Actress Varsha Usgaonkar acting for the first time in a Konkani movie and good punching comedy by Goan Comedy King Prince Jacob, Stany Alvares and Deepak Paladka. He requested everyone to watch the movie when it releases here in April and guaranteed good entertainment.
Ace Director Harry Fernandes was then felicitated by Sandhya Creation’s Shodhan Prasad with a shawl.
The audio release was done by all the guests who released the music CD of ‘Zanvoy No.1’ accompanied by melodious music in the background. Uttam announced the names of the Trio Music Directors Eric Ozario, Jerry Bondel and Gunwant Sen, Lyricists Jerry Bondel, Llyod Rego and Harry Fernandes, Music arranger Patson Pereira and the singers Gunwant Sen, Loy Valentine Saldanha, Shilpa Cutinho, Jasmine D’Souza, Patric Pereira, Wilma Pereira and Dixon Rodrigues.
Soon the beautifully captured preview of the movie was presented on a projector screen which included the dashing action scenes, comedy punches, romance, dance sequences and finally, glimpses showing the making of the movie. It was nice to see Varsha Usgaonkar appealing to the UAE audience to come and watch the movie in pure Konkani along with Prince Jacob’s appeal from Goa. Both the actors have promised to meet their fans here in Dubai during the premier show of the movie.
Cyril Castelino thanked all the audience for their support and for being present at the event. He spoke about how he got connected with Director Harry Fernandes and how got interested in joining the team as a producer with Leo Fernandes and Walter D’Souza. He also said that the movie is almost completed and censor is awaited soon. He also mentioned that they had thought of making this movie in bilingual with Konkani and Tulu (Aan Magey) but later felt that they will do it in Konkani with English subtitles, giving importance to both the Mangalorean and Goan Konkani accent so that the audience from both these states can watch and be entertained, he added.
Later Joseph Mathias spoke about Tulu and Konkani dramas being famous while only Hindi and Kannada movies were releasing in Mangaluru. He also spoke about the change in the trend which saw many producers and directors showing interest in Tulu and Konkani movies. He said that because of Frank Fernandes’ ‘Ek Aslyar Ek Na’ the numbers in Konkani movies increased. He appealed to the audience to watch these movies with their family and friends and support the producers who have contributed their time and money for the Konkani language and culture.
Frank Fernandes thanked Sangati Creations for this new movie and said that in 2008 he made ‘Kazar’ in Konkani which got the State Award and now after marriage ‘Zanvoy No. 1’ has emerged, jokingly. He said that the hard work of the producer and director was necessary to present a good movie. Artistes, technicians and the audience also contribute to make the film a super success. Quoting Mother Theresa he said ‘which thing I know, you do not know and which thing you know, I don’t know’ so let us come together and make a great thing. While thanking the audience for their support he added that criticism should be there but one should not become ‘Critic No.1’ criticising everything. He appealed to the audience to support movies in the Konkani language irrespective of the movie banners so that more contributions pour into the community in this field.
James Mendonca said that Director Harry Fernandes in the past had made two successful films in Konkani and that this movie would also be successful. Without the audience’s support one cannot make successful film, hence he appealed to all to come in large numbers to watch this movie and make it a super hit Konkani movie.
Later Simon D’Mello also spoke and wished good luck to ‘Zanvoy No.1’
Actor Deepak Paladka said that he was happy to be part of this movie. He also shared his experience whilst shooting this movie and said that he could learn a lot from the director as well as the experienced actress Varsha Usgaonkar with whom he had extensive role to share.
Stan Alvares then concluded the event with the vote of thanks. He personally thanked everybody who helped them in the making of the movie as well as for the warm welcome they gave during the audio release here in Dubai. He then thanked MC Uttam Menezes for carrying on the event smoothly and professionally.
The programme ended with a sumptuous dinner and photo session.
