Dubai: A multi-talented Sanvi Kiran Rai received the “2018 Prathibha Puraskar” for her exceptional achievements at the 44th UAE Bunts Family Annual Programme held at J W Marriott Hotel, Dubai from Padmashree awardee Dr. B R Shetty.
The ninth-standard-student at St. Joseph’s School, Abu Dhabi has been a top achiever in many competitions conducted across the country. Sanvi is the proud daughter of Dr. Kiran Kumar Rai & Supriya Kiran Kumar Rai of NMC Specialty Hospital, Abu Dhabi and granddaughter of Mangalore Mijar Guthu Vishawanath Rai, Kidiyoor Badagumane Indira Rai, Mulladka Muttikal Shivanna Shetty and Inna Barimar Pramod Shetty.
In 2016, Sanvi received the prestigious “Sh. Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Makhtoom Award” from the Deputy Ruler of Dubai H H Sheikh Bin Rashid Al Makhtoom at the Trade Centre Auditorium during the awards ceremony. This award is being bestowed by the UAE government since the year 1998 on academically excellent students in the UAE, who have not only topped in academics but in extracurricular activities as well.
Sanvi excels in her academic competitions and achieves top position wherever she competes. Currently, she is the Joint Secretary of “Verte Club” Environmental Awareness Programme at the school.
Sanvi is also an excellent dancer. A lover of Bharatanatyam dance form, she has also been trained in Kathak dance form by Guru Kundan Mukharjee. She has performed in various programmes in the UAE and won in dance competitions including “Asianet Geepas Youth Fest”, ISC-UAE Open Youth Fest conducted by India Social & Cultural Centre, Abu Dhabi.
She won second place in the “Draw Your Dream Home” competition held at India Property Show in Dubai. She had also won many prizes in various drawing competitions. Moreover, she is also a good orator. She won first place for poem recitation at the “Asianet Geepas Youth Fest” held in UAE National Level inter school competitions.
Sanvi is also a good athlete and has won ‘Athletics Championship’ during the Abu Dhabi Malayali Samaj’s UAE level completion in ‘Shot Put’. She also participates in various ‘Save the Environment’ projects and is a member of ‘Green Hope Environmental Group’. Waste recycling is also another project that is close to heart, she says.
All-rounder Sanvi Kiran Rai is popular name and has brought name and fame to the Institutions who have supported her.
