Entrepreneur Joseph Mathias honored with prestigious Mayura award

Sharjah: Famous singer, actor and chairman of Merit Freight Shipping was conferred with UAE’s prestigious Mayura award by Karnataka Sangha Sharjah during their 14th anniversary and Karnataka Rajyotsava celebrations.

Chairman of Mosaco Shipping Frank Fernandes, MD of Fortune Group of Hotels and Advisor of KSS Praveen Shetty, Patron of KSS Mark Denis, Director of ACME Building Materials and Advisor of KSS Harish Sherigar, President of Indian Association Sharjah YA Rahim and many other dignitaries along with President of Karnataka Sangha Sharjah Sugandhraj Bekal honored Joseph Mathias with shawl, flowers, memento and a felicitation letter. Joseph Mathias and his family were welcomed to the stage in a grand procession. The Mathias family was given a traditional Poornakumbha Kalasha welcome, royal umbrella, voice of traditional band and guest of honor.

Speaking to the gathering after receiving the honor, Joseph Mathias expressed his happiness and thanked Karnataka Sangha Sharjah for choosing him for the prestigious Mayura award. He said, “Karnataka is the land where we learnt humanity and culture. It is the land which united us due to the sacrifice and commitment of our leaders with great vision, poets and reformers who enlightened the state with rich literature and reformations of society. The same love and compassion towards my mother land is inspiring me to serve my mother tongue and culture”. He also wished all success to Karnataka Sangha Sharjah for their activities towards humanity and culture and assured his support for such events ahead.

The colorful evening was inaugurated by the lighting of traditional lamp and hoisting the flag of Karnataka. Speaking on the occasion, Chief Guest Frank Fernandes congratulated the organizers for their hard work to make the event a success with outstanding arrangements and wished Joseph Mathias a great future and success in his business endeavor.

The event kick started with the finals of UAE level Kannada film song competition and 9 finalists competed for Mayura Raja, Mayura Rani, Mayura Kumara and Mayura Kumari titles. The finals competition was sponsored and powered by Kannadiga World under the patronage of Harish Sherigar. Famous singing sensation Anitha D’Souza, Vidushi Suma Narayan, and play back singer Manasa Holla judged the competition.

The main attraction of the event was the musical concert by famous artists of UAE and guest artist from Karnataka. Famous singer Harish Sherigar, Anitha D’Souza, Manasa Holla, Vijaya Bhat and other entertained the audience with their melodious numbers from Hindi and Kannada. Many dance troupes performed and enthralled the audience. On the occasion, Karnataka Sangha Sharjah honored their member Nityananda Bhandari for his selfless service towards KSS and appreciated his service with garlands and memento. L&T finance chief executive Manoj Shenoy released the hand brochure of KSS which contains the details of their activities and social services.

The mind blowing music of the event was rendered by famous musician Raj Gopal and team. The bass sounds and sensational lights were powered by famous event management company Broadway events. Rohini Ananth, Ganesh Rai and famous guest artist Ravi Santhosh compered the event.

Joseph Mathias is a successful entrepreneur, talented singer, Kannadiga supporter, kind hearted philanthropist and a great human being well known in the society for long years.
