The UAE’s most awaited Konkani literature and musical extravaganza “Geet Gazaal 2.0” is generating a lot of excitement among Konkani music and poetry lovers.
Patronized by Karnataka’s most promising media portal newskarnataka.com, Geet Gazaal 2.0 has tied up with ace Konkani poet Melvyn Rodrigues and the event will take place at the Emirates Theatre, Dubai on November 1.
Geet Gazaal – 2.0 will feature an interactive session with poet Melvyn, live singing of songs penned by Melvyn along with an artistic fusion of drama and dance. The main attraction to the event is the Poet himself along with the singers, instrumentalists, and artists who will play their hearts out.
The following singers will be contributing their voices to beautify the stage of Geet Gazaal 2.0:
Aenson Mathias: A singing sensation who established himself like a phoenix in the UAE, Aenson has proved himself to be a prominent singing talent in Konkani in a short time. Being a semifinalist at the Gulf Voice of Mangalore Season 6 while representing the UAE at Kuwait, Aenson has become a promising singer in every concert and he has also attracted the attention of music producers.
Alwyn Fernandes: A star guitarist who is not only popular all around the world for his exceptional musical talent but also known as a fab singer too, Alwyn has composed the music for many albums and has also lent his voice in famous Konkani songs.
Anil Rodrigues: Known for his powerful voice with a unique quality of humming, Anil can merge himself easily with any songs and has proved himself to be one of the tough competitors among versatile singers. Anil has successfully charmed listeners through his music albums.
Dr Rashmi Fernandes: A doctor by profession, but a singer by passion. Dr. Rashmi is known as one of the popular Konkani singers. Dr Rashmi has shown her remarkable skills in singing since her childhood and has given voice to many musical albums and concerts.
Jeevan Vas: Man with a soulful voice, Jeevan has an astonishing melody with a controlled breath which is a key element of a good singer. Trained at Melodia music institute, he has participated in many Konkani musical competitions and has also performed at International Konkani Concerts.
Lydwin Cutinho: With a voice that suits all types of classical music, Lydwin has gained the trust of spectators through her unique style of performance. She has also performed in many musical concerts and her voice features in several musical albums.
Melwyn Dsouza: Known as the “Youth Rockstar” with an energetic voice and confident performance, Melwyn is a member of the desi rock band “Charitra”. Melwyn is recognized as a singer, lyricist, and has skills in music tuning too. He has performed in many electrized events and given voice to many musical albums, winning the hearts of youngsters.
Preema Dsouza: A singing sensation of coastal Mangalore and the Middle East, Preema Dsouza is known for her melodious voice that makes you forget the world. Preema traditionally practiced music and singing and has contributed her voice for hundreds of musical and devotional albums. She is also known for her amazing skills as a guitarist.
Sabitha Mathias: With the unforgettable voice in the UAE is the winner of Gulf Voice of Mangalore Season 6. A true example of dedication and focused on the goal. Ms Sabitha has practiced music over the years and rendered her soothing voice for many devotionals and musical albums.
Vinay Lewis: The winner of the Gulf Voice of Mangalore Season 1, Vinay has a voice with a blend of melody and sharpness. He is rendering his exceptional singing capabilities at the stage of Geet Gazaal 2.0. By sharing his voice for many musical albums and performing in many musical concerts, Vinay has acquired a huge fan following.
Band Open High:
Apart from these amazing singers, Band Open High has taken the responsibility of providing soulful live music for the show. The team lead by Joston Pereira – an ace keyboardist, along with one of Konkani’s best guitarists Alwyn Fernandes, famed as Swar Maanthrik, Preema Dsouza, guitarist cum vocalist, and Eldrich Dsouza, promising drummer Fred Roshan and rhythm pad artist Sameer spent their time to give the true musical touch to the expressive words of poet Melvyn Rodrigues. The Band Open High is also helping out as back vocals for the event where they have taken the responsibility to present the musically affluent show.
Nratya Rang:
Dancer and famed son of poet Melvyn Rodrigues, Gavin Rodrigues will be joining the stage of Geet Gazaal for the beautiful musical numbers penned by his dad. Gavin was the semifinalist at Dance Plus reality show and he has presented his dancing skills in India as well as on international stages which were received with tremendous appreciation for all. Along with Gavin, Rhea and Vinilda are the two other individuals joining him to glamorize the event with their graceful performance, thereby winning the hearts of spectators.
Kavya Rang:
Adding on to the innovation this year Kavya Rang, a new artistic experiment of dance, drama, and narration by a Team lead by Darrel Vamanjoor and Melwyn Kalakul are all set to present the unique artistic fusion based on the poems of Mr. Melvyn Rodrigues. The team comprises of Darrel Vamanjoor, Melwyn Kalakul, Kavitha, Natash, Mural, Rohan Kalakul, Malcon, Hilson, Mr.Joel Mr.Prashanth, Sharmila, Wilson, Deona, Delisha, Sweeny and Master Anor are eager to take the audience of Geet Gazaal into the different world of art and poetry.
Gumta Rang:
A traditional music instrument of Konkani which was used by Konkani people years ago for worship and entertainment is all set for the Geet Gazaal stage. Wilson Pinto along with his team consisting of Anitha, John, Reema, Maxim, and Fenita are going to showcase the beats of Gumta for the song which is specially narrated for Geet Gazaal. Hence the show is creating an opportunity for the young generation of Konkani to witness the glimpses of the rich cultural heritage of Konkani.
Brass Band:
Konkani events are incomplete if there are no beats from the Brass band. UAE’s only Mangalorean brass band team Konkan Taram Brass Band under the leadership of Dainy Dsouza is all set to enthrall the audience of Geet Gazaal. The team comprising Melwyn, Preetham, Franklin, Vinod, Philip, Filipe, Dexter and Joyson are ready to raise the sound of Brass band at Emirates Theater on November 1.
