IEI-Qatar Chapter marks Engineers Day

Doha: The Qatar Chapter of the Institution of Engineers (India) celebrated the 48th Engineers Day for the 24th year in a row in Qatar on Saturday October 17th 2015.
The celebration was held at Givana Hall in Radisson Blu Hotel, and attended by over 190 engineers. Indian Ambassador and Patron of the Chapter, HE Sanjiv Arora was Chief Guest. He congratulated engineers on the eve of the day and praised the good work of the chapter’s committee.

He spoke about ‘Make In India’, an initiative of the Indian government to encourage multinational and domestic companies to manufacture their products in India. It was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 25 2014.

Ahmad Jolo, Chairman of Qatar Society of Engineers, praised the role of Indian engineers in Qatar while Hassan Sultan, Chairman, Advisory council of American Society for Heating Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers, Qatar Chapter, extended support to the chapter.

Andrew Wadman gave a presentation on the celebration theme ‘Engineering Challenges in the Knowledge Era’, and VemuSekarBabu, Member, Executive Committee, presented a summary of the theme seminar on five topics held at ICC on September 26 and October 7.

The Qatar Chapter of the Institution of Engineers (India) held a technical seminar on three important topics at the Ashoka Hall-ICC for its Engineers on Saturday 26th September 2015.

Kishore Venkatesan spoke on “Introduction to Upstream Offshore Engineering”. His presentation showcased the journey from the origin of fossil fuels, exploration, drilling and the sequence of activities which culminates in supplying crude oil / raw gas to onshore facilities for refining with some case studies.

Savious Crasta spoke on the topic “Efficient Techniques to Use Plastic in Current Era”. He briefed on simple techniques that can be adopted by everybody in their day today life for healthy living.

Venkata Rao spoke on “Green Concrete in Modern Construction”. Stating that the making of concrete is an art as well as a science he described about Special types of produced by unusual techniques like Fly Ash Concrete, Silica fume or Micro Silica concrete, GGBS, Slag based concrete ,Light weight concrete.

The IEI-Qatar chapter alsoheld technical seminar on two more important topics on October 7th. Er. Subarto and Er. Mohd Obeidullah elaborated topic on BIM “An Efficient Platform for the AEC Industry”, Er.Abhijit Kuwalekhar and Er. Shyam Sundar highlighted topic on QCS2014. All guest speakers were honored with Memento.

Seenu Pillai, Honorary Chairman of the chapter, thanked the Indian embassy for support.

“The Institution of Engineers (India)”, is a  “Unique” Professional Body of the world, established in the year 1920 and incorporated by Royal Charter in 1935. Qatar Chapter is one of the most active and resourceful overseas chapters of the Institution and is working under the aegis of the Embassy of India as a non-profit body. Qatar Chapter conducts technical seminars and workshops for Engineers in Qatar.
