Abu Dhabi: The Konkani Community members residing in the surrounding of newly consecrated St. Paul’s Church, Mussafah celebrated Nativity Feast of Mother Mary with devotion and grand celebration on Friday, September 11.
The day’s proceeding started with the strewing of flowers by children near the Grotto. The statue of Infant Mary and the new corn was blessed by Fr. Valerian Fernandes. A procession was followed by the Festal Mass at the Church. Fr. Valerian Fernandes along with Fr. Ashok Gonsalves, Spiritual Director of Mussafah Konkani Community, celebrated the festal mass.
As a part of the celebration, cultural and entertainment programme was organised. Fr. Paul K., Fr. Ashok Gonsalves, Fr. Valerian Fernandes lighted the Indian lamp and cut the cake to mark the celebration. Fr. Paul praised the community members for their efforts in putting up this celebration. It was followed by dances by Monisha Rasquinha, Monal Rasquinha, Deona Gomes, Rhea Tauro. The crowd was entertained by the Konkani live singing by Thelma DSouza, Jasmine Sanctis Marissa Fernandes and Monisha Rasquinha and the choir members. Various games were conducted and prizes were distributed.
A traditional dinner was served to all the attendees. Konkani Community Co-coordinator Robert Pinto thanked all who extended help for the success of the event. The event was concluded with the singing of Laudate. Annu Bantwal and Canute Kelarai welcomed and compered the whole event.
