Doha: Karnataka Sangha Qatar, a prominent community group in Qatar aegis to ICC, celebrated one of the major festival in north Karnataka, ‘Harvest Festival’ or Suggi Habba by traditional gesture here in Skill Development centre Doha, Qatar on Friday January 20.
The program started with Harvest song from children Ahana Rao, Ishita Somayaji, Smriti Bhat, Paavani Tantri and Pratheek. The Aswin Kumar composed the background music.
KSQ president HK Madhu addressed the gathering and highlighted the traditional fervor of harvest festival in Karnataka.
Thereafter, Deepa and Poornima Ravi entertained the audience with folk songs. Prem and Kantha Kumar also followed with Kannada folk songs. The stage then opened for Halli Katte, a debate on topic ‘Who does unwanted expenditures in a family- Men or Women?’. It was a replica of famous Kannada teleshow in Udaya Vahini. Mentor V.S.Mannagi conducted the halli Katte program which entertained the audience. Dr. Rohini, Dr.Thimmegowda, Padma Sasanur, Susheela Sunil, Prabhakar, Anuradha Sudesh, Umesh S, Deepak Shetty participated in the ‘Halli Katte’.
The program continued with prize distribution to children for the best traditional attire. Then program concluded with traditional meal on banana leaf. Singers Arun Kumar, Venkat rao and Kiran entertained the audience with melodious Kannada songs.
