Kuwait: In a bid to prevent horrific accidents, the Kuwaiti Interior Ministry has instructed the local police to stop chasing motorists who are found over-speeding.
According to the Filipino Times, the local police have been instructed to make a note of the vehicle’s number plate if they refuse to stop.
In a circular issued to the police departments, the ministry said, “Following the recent incidents which resulted in some casualties, all police patrols are asked to stop chasing cars which refuse to stop for any reason.”
Police patrols will, however, be allowed to chase down cars in cases of emergency. Even in such cases, though, the patrolling officers must first obtain approval from the Interior Ministry before initiating a chase.
