Qatar: MCC organizes extravagant 9th annual talent show

Doha: Mangalore Cricket Club (MCC) Qatar a frontline community group aegis to ICC, conducted 9th Annual Talent Competitions recently at the Skills Development Centre on 1st and 8th May 2015.

On the first day, Friday evening, MCC president Norbert Corda delivered welcome speech and inaugurated the talent show officially. The competitions lined up by cooking competition, Konkani speaking/elocution and dance competitions – witnessed by fresh talents galore.

The evening began with a prayer by Gina Lobo. The programme was anchored by Dorothy Noronha and Ryan Renjarwho briefed the day’s events and the general rules of the competition.

They then introduced the judges of cooking competitions Ivy Rosario, Juliet D’Souza and Joyce Pereira who were greeted. The event witnessed enthusiastic community members from all age groups rushing to the venue to unleash their talents. There was cooking competition on the theme ‘Mangalurean breakfast items’ and a wonderful display of traditional breakfast items like Kailolyo, idiyo, bakri, mutli, panpole, appam, sajjigebajil, sheera, etc.

Kids below 6 years participated in ‘Show and tell’ competition while 6-9 years had story telling in Konkani. Kids between 9-12 years were given the topic ‘ParisarachaSowrakshanathMuzhoPathr’ while 12-18 years had the topic ‘YuvazanacherAdhuneekMadhyamachoPrabhav’. Adults participated enthusiastically in the pick-and-speak competition where they had to speak on the topic given on the spot.

The dance competition was another extravagant event – solo category was a treat to the eye while the participants in the group category were comparatively less. However the choices of songs were amazing combined with great choreography. Both kids as well as adults showcased their dancing talent during the event.

Addressing the gathering the judges and other guests said that they were thankful for being able to witness these talents and appreciated the efforts put in by the participants as well as the organizers. Felicitation was done by Vice-president Prakash Noronha, advisor Sunil D’Silva and public relations officer Vivian D’Souza.
