Sharjah: In a shocking incident, a school bus caught fire in Sharjah’s Kalba area on Tuesday morning. However, thanks to the quick-thinking of the bus driver, none of the children were injured in the incident.
The bus, however, was completely gutted in the blaze.
According to sources at the Ministry of Education media centre, only a few students were on the bus when the fire broke out.
“The well-trained driver took action and saved the lives of all the students on the bus,” the source told Khaleej Times. Another bus was made available to ferry the students to school, the source added.
As soon as they were alerted about the incident, the Sharjah Police control room dispatched firefighters, ambulances and paramedics to the scene immediately. The area was cordoned off and the emergency responders got to work, putting out the flames with water and foam.
The incident has been referred to the concerned authorities for a proper investigation.
