Abhu Dabi: Founder of the SELCO Foundation Dr. Harish Hande was honored with the prestigious Zayed Future Energy Award, which was given as a part of Abhu Dabi Sustainability Week, in Abhu Dabi recently.
The award comprises a prize amount of Rs.9.75 crores. Moreover, SELCO is the only Indian company to win the prestigious honor. According to the sources, there were 2,296 applications from 112 countries for the award.
The SELCO Foundation which was started in Karnataka in 2010, now spread across the state. It has been recognized for bringing social change, moreover for its intention to provide solar power to poor class. Dr.Harish Hande had won Ramón Magsaysay award in 2011.
Zayed Future Energy Award is being given considering the achievements, renovations in the field of renewable energy and its long-term benefits. For leading the change, according to the criteria, the award is being given to the achievers.
In the name of Father of the new Unit Arab Emirates and the past ruler of Abhu Dabi Sheik Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, his son, the King of Abhu Dabi and UAE military Deputy Supreme Commander Sheik Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan has constituted award in the year 2008.
