Muscat: The Social Forum Oman, under Karnataka Chapter’s annual meet had organised “Bandhavya–2017”, a family get-together programme on February 10, 2017 at Halban Farm House, Barka in a festive environment.
The visitors were left awestruck with the splendid arrangements done to recreate the village market, which rekindled memories of their village and childhood days. Hut shops, fair price ration store, road side stalls stacked up with all types of rural food-hot and spicy snacks, gas-soda (Goli Soda) drinks etc., attracted the visitors and refreshed their minds.
It was a proud and happy moment for the visitors who could virtually revisit their native place, coastal village and relive their childhood days via this festival in Muscat.
The day was marked with games for children and all other types of rural sports for people from all age groups. Everyone present in the programme participated in the competition without any hesitation. A lady volunteer conducted all sports and games separately for the women. The game events took them back into the olden days with sweet and sour memories of the time spent with their friends. The organisers felt that the 3-month toil in organising the event was worth the enthusiasm, expressions and appreciation received from the participants.
The chief guest of programme, Shafi Bellare, State Council Member of Popular Front of India praised all people who worked hard in making this event a successful one. He also commended the relationship in the community of Karnataka.
Addressing the people, he said that in the current scenario, due to lack of understanding and unity, rights to Indian Muslims often get delayed. He urged that these type of gatherings should become a platform to spread unity and solve all existing problems which is the need of hour. He further said, “If we continue these type of gatherings, it is imminent that peace prevails.”
President of Social Forum-Central, Abdul Hameed Panemangalore, Karnataka Chapter Vice President Syed Moidin Saheb Sastan and President of Pravasi Forum, Karnataka Chapter, Anwar Moodabidre were present on the dais. They lauded all the performers and winners were given prizes.
Abbas Kaikamba welcomed the guests. Noor Mohammed Padubidre anchored the programme and Riyaz Gangolli proposed a vote of thanks. The programme was managed by Salam Bailoor and Asif Bailoor.
The event sponsored by Cochin Jewellery and Al Nahdah Construction also had a free medical camp for the public. At the end of programme dinner prepared by members of Social Forum at the venue was served to everyone. The dinner was reminiscent of a typical wedding ceremony which added to the charm of the event
