Bengaluru police have taken two individuals into custody for allegedly pushing a co-passenger off a moving train, resulting in his death.
The tragic incident occurred on Tuesday night aboard the Yeshwantpur-Bidar Express. According to officials, the victim, a man in his 30s, was traveling in the general compartment when an argument erupted over seating space. The accused, identified as S Devappa (45), a gardener, and H Peerappa (31), a painter, both from Sedam in Kalaburagi district, allegedly refused to accommodate him near the toilet area.
The dispute escalated between Yelahanka and Gauribidanur stations, leading to the accused reportedly pushing the man off the speeding train. The impact was fatal, and he died instantly.
An eyewitness onboard the train quickly informed railway authorities, prompting a police search operation. However, due to nighttime visibility issues, the body was discovered only the next morning and sent to Victoria Hospital for a post-mortem.
Authorities have registered a murder case under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) based on a complaint from a 28-year-old passenger from Channarayapatna, Hassan. Investigations are ongoing.
This shocking incident underscores the dangers of disputes on overcrowded trains and raises concerns about passenger safety.
