New Delhi: Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, tried his hand at marksmanship during the ‘Know Your Army’ festival in Lucknow. The three-day event intends to display the Indian Army’s arsenal of contemporary weaponry, which includes tanks and artillery guns.
Mr. Adityanath said that the youth had the opportunity to learn about the Indian Army by posting images from the event on X, a platform that was formerly Twitter.

Taken part in the opening ceremony of the three-day ‘Know Your Army Festival-2024’ held in Lucknow starting today. Our young people will have the chance to learn about the Indian Army and witness their bravery and valor through this ceremony. A video of Yogi Adityanath inspecting a rifle at the event has gone viral on social media. Shared by news agency ANI, the video shows the 51-year-old displaying his marksmanship as he takes aim at an imaginary target.
The ‘Know Your Army’ festival is being conducted in advance of Lucknow’s Army Day parade on January 15. The event is being held outside of New Delhi for the second time this year.
It was decided to alternate the Army Day Parade location between several Indian cities last year. The defense ministry stated that the goal is to vary the venues so that people from different areas can take in the event’s grandeur.
The rotation is not just about changing cities but about “shifting the spotlight to various commands”, each of which plays a unique and critical role in the nation’s defence, the sources said, adding it also offers a chance to highlight the distinct cultural and regional backdrops against which the Army operates.
