Raichur district is facing a worsening teacher shortage in its government schools following the transfer of 490 teachers to other districts last month. This has left 405 schools with only one permanent teacher each, severely impacting the quality of primary and high-school education. The district, home to 2,113 government schools, has been struggling with an inadequate teacher-student ratio, with each school averaging 300 students.

District in-charge minister Sharan Prakash Patil urged action, and it was announced that 5,000 teachers would be recruited in the Kalyana Karnataka region. Despite these claims and the appointment of 3,205 guest teachers, the situation on the ground remains unchanged, according to local parents.
