A tragic road accident in Raichur district, Karnataka, led to the death of two school students and left three others severely injured when their school bus collided head-on with a Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus on Thursday. The accident involved a bus from Loyola School and occurred near Kapgal in Manvi Taluk.

Traffic and Road Safety Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Alok Kumar explained that the collision happened because the school bus swerved to avoid potholes and moved into another lane, where it was hit by the KSRTC bus. “The accident was so severe that two students died and three others lost their limbs,” said ADGP Kumar, highlighting the increasing number of accidents and the urgent need for road safety improvements.

Former Karnataka Chief Minister and MP Basavaraj Bommai expressed deep sorrow over the incident, calling for immediate relief measures from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for the families of the deceased and adequate medical treatment for the injured. “I pray that the souls of the deceased find eternal peace and that the injured recover swiftly,” Bommai stated in a social media post.

The tragic incident underscores the need for improved road conditions and safety measures to prevent such accidents in the future.
