
Coastal Karnataka on Orange Alert: Heavy Rainfall Expected Until August 31
Mangaluru: The coastal region of Karnataka is bracing for intensified rainfall, with the weather department issuing an orange alert from August 29 to August 31. This alert indicates the potential for heavy rains that could lead to disruptions and flooding in affected areas.
On Wednesday, moderate rain showers were recorded across the Dakshina Kannada district. Mangaluru city experienced rainfall in the afternoon and evening, with cloudy conditions persisting throughout the day. The districts of Bantwal, Sullia, and Kadaba also reported moderate rains, with some areas in Beltangady and Puttur experiencing heavy downpours during the afternoon.
In Udupi, moderate rainfall was reported, particularly affecting areas such as Karkala, Byndoor, Kundapur, Kaup, Hebri, and Brahmavar. Udupi and Manipal received significant rainfall during the evening and night, accompanied by high wind speeds. The heavy rain continued into late Tuesday night, affecting Udupi, Manipal, and Malpe.
The forecasted heavy rains could lead to potential flooding and landslides in vulnerable areas. Residents are advised to stay alert and take necessary precautions. Local authorities are expected to monitor the situation closely and issue further advisories as needed.
