In a dramatic turn of events on Sunday evening, a kidnapping attempt involving a five-year-old girl in Ramanagara district, Karnataka, was thwarted thanks to the quick action of local residents.

Incident Details:

  • Accused: 22-year-old Darshan, an unemployed painter and alleged drug addict.
  • Plan: Abduct the girl for ransom to fund his narcotics use.
  • Event: The girl went missing around 8 pm. Her father, Santosh, began searching after she was last seen near a Ganesha pandal. The search intensified as more locals joined in.
  • Discovery: Darshan had gagged the girl’s mouth and hands with tape and hid her in a cement godown. He abandoned her and fled as locals approached.
  • Rescue: The girl was found in a suffocating condition but was rescued unharmed.
