Ratan Tata, the iconic industrialist and Tata Sons Chairman emeritus, passed away at 11:30 PM on October 9 at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai. His body, draped in the Indian national flag, has been placed on the lawns of the National Centre for Performing Arts (NCPA) for the public to pay their last respects until 4 PM, before being taken to Worli Crematorium for the final rites. At the NCPA prayer meet, priests from various faiths—Parsi, Muslim, Christian, Sikh, and Hindu—gathered to offer prayers, highlighting the unity he inspired across communities.
Following the prayers at NCPA, his mortal remains will be moved to the Parsi cemetery in Worli, where the final prayers will be held before cremation.
A statement from Tata Sons read, “While he is no longer with us in person, his legacy of humility, generosity and purpose will continue to inspire future generations.”
