R S Shettian, chairman and managing director of Athena Hospital and the Athena Group of Institutions, passed away on 21 November at the age of 65, leaving behind a legacy marked by contributions to healthcare, education and community service in Karnataka.

He was elected as the national treasurer and trustee of the YMCA of India, becoming the first person from Karnataka to hold these positions in the 158-year history of the Indian YMCA movement.
