Panackapalam, Kerala: A couple was found dead in their rented home on Monday in a tragic incident that has shocked the local community. The deceased were identified as Vishnu S Nair (40), a contract labourer from Ramapuram, and Reshmi (35), the nursing superintendent at Sunrise Hospital, Erattupetta, originally from Melukavu.

The bodies were discovered in the bedroom of their home, where they had been residing since November. A resident living upstairs noticed something amiss and alerted the house owner, who then informed the police around 8:15 a.m.

According to Panackapalam ward member Biju K K, the couple may have died by injecting poison, and they were reportedly facing financial difficulties. “They had some visitors on Sunday regarding money-related issues,” he said in a statement to Onmanorama.

The Erattupetta police have initiated an investigation but have not yet confirmed whether it is a suicide. The couple had no children.

As the probe continues, the incident underscores the often unseen mental and emotional toll of financial stress.
