Ratnakar Ameen, 49, a resident of Ajekar and leader of a right-wing organisation, was arrested by police after allegedly delivering a hate speech during a protest in Udupi taluk.

The alleged offence took place on November 15 near Jatka Stand, during a protest organised by the Hindu Jagarana Vedike. The demonstration condemned the Islamic terror act linked to the New Delhi bomb blast. Ameen is accused of making provocative remarks that allegedly incited communal hatred.

Udupi Town Police registered a suo motu case in response to the incident. On November 18, a special police team led by Town Police Inspector Manjunath V. Badiger arrested Ameen at Mangaluru Central railway station. He was subsequently produced before the court for further proceedings.
