New Delhi: At least 10 people, including three Kashmiris, associated with the Al-Falah University in Haryana’s Faridabad have gone missing, intelligence sources told NDTV on Wednesday. All of them either worked or studied at the university, and their mobile phones have been switched off.
The missing individuals were flagged during a joint operation by Jammu & Kashmir Police and Haryana Police, raising concerns over their potential links to the Delhi Red Fort blast.
Al-Falah University Under Scanner As Possible ‘Ground Zero’
Al-Falah University has emerged as the suspected operational hub for the terror module behind the VBIED blast outside the Red Fort, in which 15 people were killed. Initial intelligence inputs suggest the missing individuals may be connected to the so-called “terror doctor” module responsible for assembling and detonating the explosive-laden Hyundai i20.
Possible Link To JeM’s Fundraising Drive
Sources have indicated that Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM)—the Pakistan-based terror outfit suspected of orchestrating the attack—recently issued a call for “donations” of around PKR 20,000 to finance additional fidayeen (suicide) strikes.
Investigators said digital clues recovered in the probe hinted at fund transfers through Pakistani platforms like SadaPay, suggesting attempts to broaden the operational network and possibly plan a women-led attack.
JeM’s Women’s Wing Under Spotlight
JeM has an established women’s cell, reportedly led by Sadiya Azhar, sister of terror chief Masood Azhar. This wing, known as Jamat ul-Muminat, is believed to have been activated following India’s Op Sindoor, which destroyed JeM camps in Bahawalpur.
One of the key accused in the Red Fort blast, Dr Shahina Saeed—codenamed ‘Madam Surgeon’ and suspected of financing the attack—is said to be part of this women’s unit.
Suspects Arrested; Blast Driver Identified
The man driving the explosive-packed i20, Dr Umar Mohammad, died in the explosion. So far, nine others—including three doctors from Al-Falah Medical College—have been arrested for their alleged involvement.
On Tuesday, Jawad Ahmed Siddiqui, founder of Al-Falah University, was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with a terror-financing-linked money-laundering case.
Red Fort Blast: Delhi’s First VBIED Attack
The explosion marked Delhi’s first encounter with a VBIED (Vehicular-Borne Improvised Explosive Device), signalling a dangerous new tactic by terror groups. Intelligence agencies continue to investigate the suspected module’s India-based logistical network and cross-border handlers.
