Karnataka’s Large and Medium Industries Minister MB Patil announced that Microsoft will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Karnataka government to boost skills in generative AI and other emerging technologies. This follows a meeting with a Microsoft delegation led by Puneet Chandok, President of Microsoft India and South Asia.
- Objective: The MoU aims to establish Karnataka as a leading AI-driven state by integrating AI into investor support processes within the Department of Commerce & Industries.
- Upcoming Initiatives: Microsoft plans to showcase its innovations at the Global Investor Meet, scheduled for February 12-14, 2025, in collaboration with Invest Karnataka. Senior Microsoft leaders will present their latest technologies at the event.
- Microsoft Delegation: The delegation included Irina Ghose, Managing Director of Microsoft India; Sheenu Sehkhri, Strategy Head; Anish Chandy, Senior Director; Sandeep Mahapatra, Senior Account Manager; and Sreekant Kurup, Account Lead.
- Government Representation: The meeting was attended by Selvakumar, Principal Secretary of the Department of Commerce & Industries, and Gunjan Krishna, Commissioner of the Department of Commerce & Industries.
The partnership reflects a significant step towards advancing Karnataka’s position in the tech industry and fostering innovation in AI.
