Hyundai’s premium compact hatchback, i20 has reached one million sales units globally. The count includes the sales unit of all the models under i20 series including the old i20, Elite i20 and i20 Active.
Since its launch in 2008, i20 gained significant sales number boosting Hyundai to launch the Elite i20 in 2014 and its crossover hatchback i20 Active in 2015. It is to be noted that Elite i20 recorded bookings of more than 56,000 units within the first four months of its launch attaining a sales mark of one lakh within a year.
Mr. Y K Koo, MD and CEO of Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) commented, “Reaching this historic mark is a testament to Hyundai i20’s staying power and the global appeal of a vehicle that delivers sporty design, functionality and class-leading performance. We are extremely delighted that i20 models have achieved this milestone of one million global sales and met the aspirations of Indian and global customers.”
Hyundai reported that it has sold 7,57,035 units of i20, 2,22,044 units of Elite i20 and 38,031 units of i20 Active globally both in domestic and international markets.
