Maruti Suzuki has launched the limited edition of the Swift DLX with a lot of cosmetic and aesthetic changes, besides plenty of feature upgrades to include more higher-end features within its price. Even the pre-launch promotions of the DLX ran, “Any other car offers you all this at Rs. 4.54 lacs?”
Maruti Suzuki has been obviously reflecting customer trends and expectations. In addition to making the Swift DLX more feature-rich, Maruti has also made the hatchback look sporty by plastering the B-pillars with a black sash tape. This enhancement was seen only after the mid-level VXi and VDi variants of the Swift. Similarly, handles and ORVMs are merged with the body color to render a more suave and sophisticated appearance to the exteriors.
So, Maruti has been taking efforts to offer more bang for the buck, as customer expectations have risen to anticipate more higher-end features within even mid-range-hatchbacks. The effort on the part of the Maruti Suzuki to make its line-up more ‘premium’ is apparent.
On the mechanical front, there are no changes with the Swift DLX still carrying the same 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder, VTVT petrol engine that powers up to 83 bhp and 115 nm of torque output. The diesel powertrain, on the other hand, is the 1.3-litre, 4-cylinder, DDiS engine that develops 74 bhp and 190 Nm of torque.
There is no lack of safety and comfort features in the Swift DLX as it comes with new fog lamps, central locking system, engine immobilizer, smart warning indicators, all four power windows, child safety lock etc. Subjective engagement and interface happens with the Multi-Information Display (MID), Sony FM music system with Bluetooth and USB connectivity and Front Door Speakers.
