Hyundai, the Korean auto giant, is ready to launch its all new compact SUV, Creta, on the 21st of July. Previously known as ix25 in the country, the car went through a name-change exercise and is now called Creta – a derivative from creative?. The same moniker will be used in global markets as well. Hyundai?s Creta is based on the already launched ix25 in China last year and barring the name, everything else is similar in the car.Hyundai Creta compact SUV is expected to be priced in between Rs 8 lakh and Rs 12 lakh and because of 90% localization, it will surely be a less expensive affair for the buyers as compared to the other SUVs present in market today.

Hyundai Creta is the second launch by the company this year after Hyundai Active i20, undoubtedly the car is the most awaited and anticipated vehicle by Indian auto buffs. Ready to be launched in the festive season of Onam (South India) and Ganesh Chaturti (West India), the car is expected to generate more heat in the already crowded SUV market. It has to face some tough machines in the class like Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano, Ford EcoSport and Mahindra Scorpio.

The upcoming SUV Hyundai Creta is expected to share most of the design and mechanism from the bigger sibling Santa Fe. It gracefully embraces the Fluidic 2.0 design philosophy of the company. It means that the all new appearance and look of the car will surely attract the Hyundai lovers in the country. Now coming to the dimensions of the car, it measures 4270mm in length, 1780mm in width, 1630mm in height and 2590mm wheelbase. In short, it comes little shorter on the spec front when compare to Duster and has an upper edge over Ford EcoSport, but at the same time, will be spacious for five adult occupants and will come with 400 liters of boot space.

On the other hand, the interiors will incorporate various bells and whistles and the most notable will be Hyundai?s own Blue Link infotainment system incorporating large screen and inbuilt navigation system which will work on various smartphones.

Under the hood, the new Creta SUV will most likely to incorporate three engines of Verna, giving the customers various options to select from. The engine options are 1.4 liter/1.6 liter diesel and 1.6 litre petrol. The former two can deliver 88.7bhp/219Nm and 126bhp/260Nm of power and torque while the latter which is the petrol mill, would be able to return 121bhp of power and 155Nm of maximum torque. Hyundai Creta is expected to offer both the manual as well as automatic transmission gearbox in the coming SUV but there is hardly any chance of the AWD mechanism coming in the car, at least for now.

Talking about the safety features, Hyundai has a lot to offer in the upcoming SUV. It has been reported that the car (ix25) has been approved by the China new Car Assessment Program (C-NCAP) and bestowed with 5-star safety rating. That means that the car manufacturer has put a lot of efforts for providing the customers in India a safe journey. The SUV will accompany 4 airbags while in the top end variants the car will have ABS with EBD as well.

Hyundai is aiming desperately to grow in the segment and to take the leading position, just as it is doing in the crossover segment with its i20 Active Crossover. So we just hope that with this fresh product, the car would make its way into the hearts of the people.
