Following Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai and Tata Motors, Renault India has also gone for a price hike of its Kwid hatchback. This is the second price hike, after the French carmaker hiked the prices back in January this year. The price rise on the Kwid is expected to be anywhere between Rs. 3,000 and Rs. 6,000 depending upon the variant.
For Renault, Kwid turned out to be the most successful product in their line-up. Launched in late 2015, it has sold over 80,000 units since, bringing hopes of high volume sales alive for the Renault, like the market leaders in India. The launch price of the Renault Kwid was Rs. 2.56 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), making it one of the most “value for money” cars in India. However, Renault had already made clear that there would be an increase in price in the future.

Now, despite the dual price hike this year, Renault Kwid still retains its place as the most “value for money” car in the hatchback-crossover segment. So now, the base variant goes costlier by Rs. 3,000 and the top-spec variant goes higher by Rs. 6,000.

The Renault Kwid gets powered by a 0.8-litre, 799 cc, three-cylinder, petrol engine that is set to develop 52 bhp of power and 72 Nm of torque. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed manual transmission and delivers a best-in-class fuel economy of 25.17 kmpl.

The Kwid still gets many segment-first and top-end features and equipment as touchscreen infotainment display with navigation, Bluetooth and AUX Connectivity, hands-free telephoning, voice guidance, on-board trip computer, remote keyless entry, etc. The hatchback is also known for spacious ergo-smart interiors and best-in-class ground clearance of 180 mm.
