NASA: An asteroid, named 2006 QQ23 is coming in the approximate direction of the earth at 16, 740 kmph. At 7.4 million miles (0.049 Astronomical Units) from our planet, the asteroid has become a near-Earth Asteroid.
This asteroid, about 570 meters in diameter, and 440 meters long counts as a moderately sized meteorite, and while a direct hit would cause indescribable damage, at a distance of about 80,00,000 km it will be relatively benign. Scientists at NASA have worked out that there is no threat of a direct hit of any flying space body for over the next one hundred years, says Zee News quoting CNN,
