World’s richest man Elon Musk recently announced plans to launch a competitor to Google’s mailing service Gmail. The conformation came after Nathan McGrady, a senior member of the Security Engineering team of X, the social media platform that Mr Musk owns, questioned about Xmail’s launch date. The billionaire responded, confirming that the service is on the way, sending shockwaves across the email sector where Gmail is the biggest service.

Mr Musk, however, hasn’t specified when he plans to launch the new mail service. The only response he gave were two words: It’s coming.

What is know about XMail?

Other than the two statements made by Mr. Musk, nothing formal. However, according to Forbes, the term X—which he is obsessed with—is already in use by at least three other mail services. Given his wealth, Mr. Musk will be able to buy the right to use the name if he is indeed planning such a new service and has already taken this into consideration.

While XMail’s existence is unknown, a number of messages circulating on different platforms indicate that it will be an improvement over the current mail services. According to users, XMail will guarantee improved privacy, quick delivery, and a simple layout. But Mr. Musk or X must verify these statements.

Mr. Musk, who is already working on other features like online payments and video calls, has made yet another announcement.

Mr. Musk made his statement at the same moment that a widely circulated message announced that Google intended to discontinue the Gmail email service on August 1. The message went viral in the online community, and Google has a history of discontinuing services that a large number of users find valuable.

Google itself responded by posting a message on X with a message that said: “Gmail is here to stay.”
