CHENNAI: In a major boost to India’s drone manufacturing ecosystem, Garuda Aerospace has unveiled a cutting-edge Agri-Drone Indigenisation facility at Thalambur, near Chennai. This first-of-its-kind 35,000 sq ft unit is dedicated to designing and producing advanced Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS), including 7 subsystems and 33 parts, under the Centre’s ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative.

Inaugurated by Union Minister of State for Rural Development Kamlesh Paswan on Thursday, the facility complements Garuda’s existing Chennai unit and marks a strategic leap toward self-reliant drone technology development.

Alongside, Garuda launched 300 Centres of Excellence in partnership with educational and industry institutions to foster drone R&D and skill-building nationwide. A “Train-the-Trainer” programme was also introduced to upskill drone operators.

Founder and CEO Agnishwar Jayaprakash said, “This new facility reinforces our commitment to self-reliance and innovation in India’s drone sector.” A live demonstration of Agri-Drones showcased the company’s capabilities and alignment with national goals.

Garuda Aerospace continues to rise as one of India’s most valuable drone startups, with an expanding global presence and a clear focus on technology-led agriculture and rural development.
