Kara Water, known for its innovative air-to-water technology, has unveiled the Kara Pod coffee brewer at CES 2025 in Las Vegas. This machine allows users to brew coffee without ever needing to refill water, as it extracts water from the humidity in the air.
The Kara Pod, which can produce approximately 3.2 liters of water per day, eliminates the need for constant refills. The company’s technology is capable of producing mineral-rich, 9.2pH alkaline water, making it ideal for coffee brewing. With a compact design (15 x 9 x 14 inches) and a weight of around 13 pounds, the device can brew up to 18 cups of coffee a day.
Launched by founders Cody Sooden and Michael Di Giovanna, Kara Water’s mission is to provide clean drinking water, especially in regions with limited access to safe water. The Kara Pod will be available starting at $299 in March 2025.
This innovation is part of a larger effort to develop air-to-water technologies, which could help address global water scarcity. With around two billion people lacking access to clean drinking water, technologies like the Kara Pod and research from other innovators, such as NYU’s energy-free water-extracting crystal, show promise for providing water in arid areas.
