Bengaluru: The state government has transferred the investigation of the case involving JD(S) MLC Dr. Suraj Revanna to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

R. Hithendra, ADGP (Law and Order), informed the CID and the Superintendent of Police of Hassan that the case, registered under crime number 92/2024 at Holenarasipur rural police station in Hassan district, has been reassigned to the CID for further inquiry, effective immediately.

Hithendra directed the Hassan SP to transfer the case file to the CID for continued investigation and advised the Director General of Police (DGP) of the CID to make necessary arrangements to proceed with the investigation.

Dr. Suraj Revanna, who is the son of former Minister H.D. Revanna, was taken into custody by the Hassan Police in the early hours of Sunday, June 23.

Following a complaint lodged on June 22 by a 27-year-old man, the police summoned Dr. Suraj Revanna to the Cyber, Economic, and Narcotics (CEN) Police Station in Hassan for questioning. The interrogation lasted for several hours that night, leading to his arrest.

Dr. Suraj Revanna, elected to the Legislative Council in 2022 from the local bodies of Hassan district, faces allegations of sexually abusing a man and issuing death threats.

Additionally, the Karnataka High Court has granted anticipatory bail to Bhavani Revanna, which is also relevant in this context.
