Shivamogga: BJP State President B Y Vijayendra expressed his pride in being the son of former Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa, while emphasising his humility and dedication to the party. Addressing reporters on Tuesday, Vijayendra reiterated that despite being the son of a towering political figure, he harboured no arrogance.

No Rift with Senior Leaders
Vijayendra also responded to allegations of sidelining senior BJP leaders, clarifying that he had faced criticism from them in the interest of the party. “I have endured criticism from senior leaders for the sake of the BJP’s growth in Karnataka,” he said. His primary focus, he stressed, is on securing the BJP’s success in the state independently, without relying on external political alliances.

Praise for Prime Minister Modi’s Governance
During his address, Vijayendra lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, particularly highlighting the Modi government’s ongoing efforts to eradicate corruption and elevate India on the global stage. He mentioned that the central government, under Modi’s leadership, completed its first 100 days on September 17, a date that coincides with the Prime Minister’s birthday.

Vijayendra credited Modi with revolutionising the administrative landscape over the last decade. “Modi’s government has not only strengthened the country’s administration but has also worked tirelessly for the welfare of all communities,” he said. Citing the country’s rapid progress, Vijayendra predicted that India would emerge as a global powerhouse by 2047.

Financial Aid and Welfare Schemes for Farmers
Turning his attention to welfare schemes, Vijayendra highlighted the Centre’s efforts to support the country’s agricultural sector. He stated that Rs 20,000 crore had been disbursed under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme, benefitting 9.3 crore farmers across India. This financial aid, he emphasised, would significantly improve the livelihood of farmers and contribute to their economic stability.

In addition to the direct financial support for farmers, Vijayendra outlined other benefits from the Centre’s various schemes. “Farmers are receiving Rs 12 crore in aid under various initiatives,” he added, underscoring the Modi government’s commitment to rural development.

Expansion of Ayushman Bharat Scheme
Discussing healthcare, Vijayendra noted that the Ayushman Bharat scheme, which provides Rs 5 lakh in health insurance coverage, is helping millions of citizens across the country. “The scheme has been a lifeline for people, and now it has been extended to include senior citizens over the age of 70,” he revealed. This expansion is set to benefit over six crore senior citizens nationwide, ensuring they have access to essential health services.

Moreover, the scheme has reached 4.5 crore families, providing critical healthcare support to the underprivileged. Vijayendra praised these initiatives, affirming that they reflect the government’s commitment to inclusive growth and welfare.

Modi Government’s Landmark Achievements
Reflecting on the Modi-led government’s achievements in just 100 days, Vijayendra highlighted several significant reforms. Among them is the landmark overhaul of India’s criminal justice system, which has seen the government introduce changes to three key criminal laws.

“Since independence, this is the first time that such transformative changes have been made to criminal laws in the country,” Vijayendra pointed out. He added that these reforms, along with various welfare measures, demonstrate the government’s resolve to bring about tangible, positive change in citizens’ lives.

Vijayendra concluded by reaffirming his commitment to the BJP and its core mission of serving the people of Karnataka and India. He expressed confidence that under Modi’s leadership, the nation is on the path to becoming a formidable force on the global stage.
